Changing community health takes more than one organization. It takes a platform.

The Interrupt was honored to be featured in The Corporate Citizen, published by the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College's Carroll School of Management — alongside four companies recognized for rewriting the rules of corporate social innovation.

The barriers facing underserved communities don't arrive one at a time, and the solutions can't either. Obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease are shaped by the full arc of how people live: whether they have access to healthy food, stable housing, reliable transportation, quality care, and pathways to economic security. That's the conviction at the heart of The Interrupt — and it's what earned us recognition as a 2026 Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship Innovation Award winner in the Social Impact Changemaker category.

In Alabama, The Interrupt partnered with UAB's Live HealthSmart Alabama initiative, convening Uber Health, Alabama Power, Building Bridges Across the River, and Cadell Construction to dismantle barriers facing rural and underserved communities. In Washington, D.C., residents at Washington View helped name the local initiative "View Strong" — resulting in more than 6,000 pounds of food distributed, living-wage career connections, and health screenings woven into a single, integrated programming ecosystem.

The results in both cities have given us something more valuable than a program: a replicable approach. The platform is expanding to Philadelphia and beyond, built on one conviction — the barriers are interconnected, and the solutions have to be too.
