Live HealthSmart Alabama, a partner of The Interrupt, has received a $4 million investment from Novo Nordisk to expand its community- informed health program to Clanton, Oneonta, and Montgomery. Delivered over three years through The Interrupt, the funding builds on a 2023 commitment that first brought LHSA's model to Selma, Demopolis, and Dothan — and deepens its prevention, wellness, and nutrition work in communities across Alabama.
The results so far tell the story. Since 2022, LHSA and its partners have delivered more than 5,800 wellness visits, connected 15.2% of participants to a primary care provider, served over 16,600 customers through mobile groceries across 29 ZIP codes, and built or repaired more than 20,000 linear feet of sidewalks. Those outcomes are the product of LHSA's defining approach: listening first, then building programs around each community’s unique needs and priorities.
That model is exactly what The Interrupt exists to support. As Novo Nordisk's Apurva Patel put it, "What began as an early commitment has grown into a proven, collaborative model — expanding reach, unlocking new partners, and delivering real impact."
