Our Manifesto

We believe that health is not just the absence of disease, but the presence of vitality, opportunity, and hope. Yet for too many communities, these fundamentals remain out of reach.
The current healthcare system treats symptoms after they appear, but rarely addresses the conditions that create them in the first place. We exist to interrupt this pattern.
We believe in whole health. Health is shaped by where people live, work, learn, and play. It's influenced by access to nutritious food, safe housing, quality education, economic opportunity, and social connection. True health requires addressing all of these factors together, not in isolation.
We believe in community-driven solutions. The people who live in a community understand its challenges and strengths better than anyone else. Lasting change happens when residents are partners in designing and implementing solutions, not passive recipients of services.
We believe in the power of collaboration. No single organization can solve complex health challenges alone. When businesses, nonprofits, healthcare systems, and community organizations work together with shared purpose, they can achieve what none could accomplish individually.
We believe in place-based impact. Health disparities are often concentrated in specific neighborhoods and communities. By focusing our efforts geographically, we can create comprehensive, coordinated interventions that address multiple determinants of health simultaneously.
We believe in measurable change. Good intentions are not enough. We are committed to tracking our progress, learning from our successes and failures, and continuously improving our approach based on evidence and community feedback.
This is why The Interrupt exists. We are a platform for collective action, bringing together diverse partners to create healthier communities where everyone can thrive. We interrupt the patterns that perpetuate poor health outcomes, and we build new systems that support wellness, opportunity, and hope.
Join us in this work. Together, we can create the change our communities deserve.
